The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) will invest 19.8 billion won this year in an artificial intelligence (AI) content production support programme, the largest amount to date.

On Feb. 24, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KOCCA said they will 추진 the 2026 “AI Content Production Support” project to foster AI as a key growth driver for the content industry.

The project is divided into three types based on a company’s growth stage: entry, leading and cooperative. It aims to provide systematic support from initial market entry to expansion into global markets.

The entry track supports market entry and growth for small and medium-sized companies with AI-based content production capabilities. It covers genre convergence, new-technology convergence and development of services specialised for production sites. It will select about 24 projects, providing up to 200 million won per project.

The leading track aims to produce content with global competitiveness by applying advanced AI technology. It plans to support about 10 projects, providing up to 700 million won per project.

The cooperative track is designed to support shared growth based on collaboration between large or mid-sized companies and small and medium-sized companies. Support will expand sharply to 16 projects this year from 4 projects last year. It will provide up to 400 million won per project and plans to hold a public briefing in March for companies that want to participate.

KOCCA will also run capability-building programmes for selected companies beyond simple production support. It aims to strengthen practical capabilities and support stable commercialisation through legal and copyright services, business consultations, expert connections and business matching.

It will also hold an “AI Content Festival” in the second half of this year. Through programmes such as exhibitions, hands-on experiences and conferences, it plans to publicise the results of the support and expand the foundation for global market expansion.

Yu Hyeon-seok (유현석), acting head of KOCCA, said, “AI content is a core field leading the future content industry.” He added, “We will continuously strengthen the scale and system of support so that companies can build production experience and connect it to commercialisation.”
