Vertiv is set to acquire ThermoKey, a company specialising in heat exchange and heat dissipation technologies, Techzine reported on March 30.

The acquisition is part of Vertiv's strategy to build an end-to-end thermal management portfolio. Building AI infrastructure requires integrated solutions spanning chips, cooling and physical buildings. ThermoKey has dry coolers, microchannel-based heat exchangers, air-cooled condensers and liquid cooling systems. It also supports compatibility with environmentally friendly refrigerants.

Heat dissipation technology is emerging as an increasingly important area in the data centre cooling chain as server rack density rises.

Vertiv has the CoolLoop Trim Cooler, which controls water temperature in liquid-cooled AI environments. Earlier, Vertiv also introduced the MegaMod HDX, which combines direct-to-chip cooling and air cooling for environments with rack density of 100 kilowatts or more.

Vertiv Chief Executive Giordano Albertazzi (조르다노 알베르타찌) said, "Heat dissipation is becoming increasingly important in data centres and AI factories," adding, "This is because the industry is seeking new ways to secure capacity, improve energy efficiency and expand reliably."
