Particle, an AI news app, has introduced a feature that automatically finds key content in podcasts and provides it as clips, TechCrunch reported on Feb. 23.
The feature selects important moments from news-related podcasts so users can quickly listen to key points without having to hear long episodes. Users can read news articles while listening to clips or view the text directly. Particle CEO Sara Bakepour (사라 베이크푸어) said, "This feature makes it easy for people to access a range of opinions and commentary related to the news."
As podcasts become an increasingly important news source, Particle uses an AI embedding model to analyze the relevance between podcasts and news and to find suitable clips. The company uses ElevenLabs speech recognition technology for this, but said the process of accurately turning audio into clips is handled by Particle's own technology.
Particle also launched a paid service, Particle Plus, that offers various AI features. Subscriptions cost $2.99 a month and $29.99 a year, and include AI news summaries, a personalized audio feed and unlimited crossword puzzles. Particle plans to expand the feature to its Android version in the future.
