KB Kookmin Bank released a web entertainment video, “Kukmin Avatar: Wise Jeonse Contract,” aimed at preventing jeonse rental fraud, it said on March 30.

The video features comedian and licensed real estate agent Seo Kyung-seok (서경석) and comedian Park Se-mi (박세미), who disclosed in 2024 that she was a victim of jeonse fraud. Using an “avatar” concept that gives remote instructions to a client, it helps with signing a jeonse contract and realistically captures difficulties first-time workers could face.

The video is based on fraud cases that first-time workers and newlywed couples, key victims of jeonse fraud, may encounter during the actual contracting process. It also provides information such as how to check landlord details and verify property rights, alongside “Samhaengsi account fraud,” a scheme that unlawfully takes deposits by opening a group account name to match the landlord’s name, and examples of “tin-can jeonse,” which accounts for a large share of jeonse fraud cases.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said the bank has worked since 2024 to make jeonse fraud prevention information easier to understand through various content, including “Jeonmuncheol,” “Kikni webtoon” and the web drama “Banban House.” The official said the bank will continue to strengthen consumer protection through a range of content and financial services and create an environment in which customers can transact with confidence.
