Toss Insurance said on March 30 it decided at a regular shareholders meeting held on March 27 to reappoint its incumbent CEO, Cho Byung-ik (조병익). The new term will run for 2 years from April 1.
Cho took office as president and CEO of Toss Insurance in 2019 and, after two reappointments, will lead the organisation for 10 years through 2028. The company said the decision reflects shareholders' strong trust in leadership that has been responsible for the entire growth process since the company’s early days.
Since taking office, Cho has led efforts to optimise Toss Insurance’s business model and grow the organisation. After it shifted to face-to-face sales in early 2022, its planner organisation has steadily expanded and has now become a large general agency with close to 3,000 planners. It was also assessed as achieving substantive growth alongside scale, posting top-tier industry levels on key efficiency indicators including productivity per person and policy retention rates.
Based on this, it won awards including DB Insurance’s Premium GA Brand Grand Prize in 2024 and KB Life’s Grand Prize for excellent GA in financial consumer protection in 2025. It has also recently signed a series of memorandums of understanding to protect consumers with major insurers including Samsung Life, Samsung Fire & Marine and KB Insurance.
Cho said, "The journey so far has been the process in which Toss Insurance became one team, proved our hypothesis as reality, and restored essential trust in insurance." He added, "We will continue to keep our promise to be the best indispensable partner in helping planners, Toss Insurance’s first customers, succeed."
He added, "Toss Insurance is still at the starting stage, and we will stick to a consultation structure that focuses on customers’ lives beyond simply selling." He stressed, "We will not stop until we become a company everyone respects, and we will create a new standard for the insurance industry."
