Samsung SDS said it analysed cyber security issues that occurred at home and abroad last year and announced five major cyber threats that companies should watch that could affect them in 2026.

It cited AI-based security threats stemming from misuse or abuse of AI, ransomware that takes control of user information and systems and demands money in exchange for recovery, cloud security threats arising as companies shift IT environments to the cloud, phishing and account takeovers that impersonate others to steal information or money or seize access rights, and data security threats that lead to unauthorised access to, damage to or leaks of critical data.

Yong-min Jang (장용민), head of Samsung SDS's security business team and an executive director, said the spread of AI and AI agents would amplify new security threats, including sophisticated phishing, data leaks and attacks targeting AI usage environments. He said these threats would be difficult to address with traditional security solutions alone, and companies should shift to proactive responses by introducing AI-based security solutions to automate measures such as AI-based monitoring, detection and automatic blocking.

Samsung SDS was previously selected by global market research firm IDC as a leader in security operations (2024 APAC), a leader in professional security services (2024 APAC), a leader in cyber security consulting services (2024 Worldwide) and a major player in cloud security (2022-24 Worldwide).
