Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), Second Vice Minister at the Ministry of Science and ICT, met U.S. State Department adviser Michael Needham on Feb. 23 to discuss key areas of cooperation including bilateral science and technology and digital cooperation and the implementation of items in a joint factsheet.

At the meeting, Ryu said it was meaningful that the two governments agreed to launch a working group based on the Korea-U.S. Technology Prosperity Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). He expressed his willingness to move swiftly and asked for Needham’s support.

The two sides discussed cooperation in core technology fields including AI and shared interests. They also agreed to use the working group to turn policy commitments into tangible outcomes. Ryu asked for active cooperation in holding the 12th Korea-U.S. Joint Committee on Science and Technology this year based on the working group’s results.
