The Korea Display Industry Association is inviting open applications for a symbolic demonstration hub to help expand the market for next-generation display technologies.

The association said on Sunday it will conduct a demand survey for demonstration sites as part of the "Convergence display application product discovery and demonstration support project" backed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and overseen by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The call aims to identify symbolic spaces to install next-generation display products such as MicroLED and OLED. Target sites include places with high promotional impact, such as venues that frequently host international conferences or attract many dignitaries and domestic and foreign visitors.

The association plans to select demonstration hubs sequentially over 2 years, choosing 1 site each this year and next year, and provide focused support. It will select the best site based on an overall assessment of space suitability, promotional impact and operational management capability. The results will be posted on the association's website in late March.

Once a demonstration site is confirmed, it will select products and companies to install in the space through a separate call. Selected companies will receive support for product production and demonstration project costs. Local governments, public institutions and large commercial facilities can apply, and applicants should submit 1 copy of the demand survey application form to the association by email.

Over the past 3 years, the project has increased the use of transparent OLED and Micro LED through multiple demonstrations. It applied next-generation technology in public and cultural areas, including the National Museum of Korea's transparent OLED Art Vision and an AI service at Cheongyang County Public Memorial Park. It also carried out demonstrations at major overseas hubs, including the Los Angeles branch of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The association is also preparing to launch a "digital signage council" to secure a foothold in the fast-growing signage market.

An association official said, "The goal is to build spaces at major hubs at home and abroad where our technology is applied, prove product excellence, strengthen industrial competitiveness and create new markets."
