Daedong has reappointed Chief Executive Won Yu-hyeon (원유현), securing leadership continuity to accelerate its agriculture AI and robot businesses. Daedong said on March 26 it held its 79th annual general meeting and reappointed Won as an inside director. His term runs from March 2026 to March 2029.
Since his appointment in 2020, Won has shifted the company’s business structure from farm machinery to a data and software-based model. He set smart farm machinery, farming and mobility as future growth strategies and built capabilities in autonomous farm machinery and connected technology. The company said this positioned Daedong as a leading company in South Korea’s smart farm machinery market.
From 2023, Daedong commercialised agricultural robots and precision agriculture technology that had been in the demonstration stage and launched them in South Korea. It also established related companies, including Daedong AI Lab and Daedong Robotics, to internalise agriculture AI and robot technologies while setting robot- and data-based businesses as a new growth pillar.
In the new term, Daedong will focus on enhancing competitiveness in five key businesses: precision agriculture, robotics, smart farming, AI agents and connected. It plans to expand domestic and overseas deployment of AI-based autonomous work farm machinery, agricultural robots, precision agriculture and agricultural AI agents. It also plans to build an operating system to integrate and manage agricultural data collected through these efforts. At the group level, it plans to 추진 AX (AI transformation) to raise operating efficiency across the entire value chain from research and development to production and services.
Won said, "As I am taking on a heavy responsibility once again, I will 반드시 prove the future businesses we have prepared through results." He said, "Based on AI, data and robotics, I will drive change in the field and grow Daedong into an AI robot company that leads agricultural innovation."
