Woori Financial Group’s Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation will select 1,200 multicultural scholarship students in 2026 and provide scholarships totaling 2.3 billion won, it said on March 26.
The foundation will accept applications through April 17 via its website and, after document screening, announce the final recipients in June.
This scholarship project focuses on supporting children of multicultural families in continuing their studies and growing. Selected scholarship recipients will be offered career exploration, learning consulting and a scholarship network program. Scholarship-use management linked with Good Neighbors will also be carried out.
Scholarships will be awarded across 1,110 academic scholarships, 40 talent scholarships and 50 special scholarships. This year, the number of recipients was expanded to 1,200 from 1,000 the previous year.
The Woori Multicultural Scholarship Foundation is a public-interest foundation supporting multicultural families, established in 2012 with contributions from Woori Financial Group affiliates. Since its establishment, it has provided scholarships totaling 9.9 billion won to about 7,700 students.
Examples of people who grew through the foundation include singers Ji-hoon Lee (이지훈) and Jeremy (제레미), basketball player Eddie Daniel (에디 다니엘), and composer Ha-neuri Lee (이하느리).
A foundation official said, "By expanding the number of recipients, we can support more of the future generation from multicultural backgrounds." The official added, "We will continue to support students in realising their potential through scholarships and various growth programs."
