AZICLAND signed a contract with BrainChip, a company leading neuromorphic AI technology. AZICLAND, a firm specialising in design solutions for application-specific integrated circuits, said on Feb. 23 it signed a new semiconductor design and supply contract with global AI chip company BrainChip.

BrainChip is the first company in the world to commercialise neuromorphic technology that mimics the neural network structure of the human brain. Through the contract, AZICLAND will expand its design scope beyond existing NPU designs to include next-generation neuromorphic AI semiconductors.

The contract is a project to develop BrainChip’s second-generation neuromorphic AI processor, AKD2500. AZICLAND plans to provide comprehensive design services spanning ASIC design applying the customer’s neuromorphic core, wafer packaging and testing. The AKD2500 is based on BrainChip’s second-generation architecture. It is optimised for ultra-low-power, high-efficiency computing required in robotics and physical AI.

BrainChip’s flagship Akida processor adopts a spiking neural network structure in which computing occurs only when data changes, maximising energy efficiency. It offers an on-chip learning function that enables real-time learning on the device itself. It is expanding its global market across various physical AI areas, including autonomous driving, robotics, wearables and intelligent IoT.

Lee Jong-min (이종민), CEO of AZICLAND, said, "Cooperation with BrainChip, a global neuromorphic AI company, is a case that proves AZICLAND’s ASIC design capabilities are at a global level." He said, "By successfully carrying out this project, we will strengthen a technological foothold to attract global fabless customers and actively expand the share of global sales."
