JoyCity said on Tuesday it has begun pre-registrations for the historical massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Imjin War: Joseon's Counterattack', which is being developed by Red Ginkgo Games, an affiliate of Endream, ahead of its official launch.

'Imjin War: Joseon's Counterattack' is a new title by director Kim Tae-gon (김태곤), who made 'Imjinrok', 'Gersang' and 'Goonzu Online'. Based on the 1592 Imjin War narrative, it portrays battlefields involving Joseon, Japan and Ming China as an MMORPG.

Players can collect and develop heroes including Yi Sun-shin and Kim Si-min. They can control actual weapons such as the turtle ship, the panokseon and the hwacha (singijeon) to conduct naval battles and siege warfare.

It allows free trading through a unified marketplace across all servers. It also features a manufacturing-based economic structure in which players directly create currency using resources obtained through hunting and gathering.

JoyCity will provide rewards to pre-registration participants, including an appointment letter to summon commanders, various scrolls and currency that can be used after the official launch.

Kim said, "'Imjin War: Joseon's Counterattack' is a work we sought to create by combining the weight of historical accuracy with modern MMORPG fun," and added, "Please give a lot of support for this pre-registration."

'Imjin War: Joseon's Counterattack' is expected to be officially released to the global market in the first half of 2026 on mobile and PC platforms.
