U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Netflix it will "pay a price" if it does not fire board member Susan Rice, TechCrunch reported on Saturday.
Rice, a former U.N. ambassador who served in diplomatic and advisory roles in the Obama and Biden administrations, has been on Netflix's board since 2018. Trump's remarks came shortly after Rice said on the podcast "Stay Tuned with Preet" that companies that bowed to Trump would be held accountable if Democrats returned to power. She argued that if companies think that kneeling to Trump would be forgiven when Democrats return, they are mistaken. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said, "Netflix must immediately fire Susan Rice. Otherwise, it will face a backlash," adding, "He has no talent and is only a political actor."
Trump's move is drawing attention as the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger deal is awaiting regulatory approval. Trump last year also demanded that Microsoft fire Lisa Monaco, its head of global government affairs, but she remains at Microsoft, TechCrunch reported.
