AI edtech startup Sokra AI said on Tuesday its transaction volume in January totalled 5.5 billion won. That was up 67 percent from a year earlier and the highest since the company was founded. Over the same period, transaction volume in the Japanese market rose 34 percent to 700 million won.
It said the gain was driven by the impact of 'Santa AI TOEFL', launched in October last year. Sokra AI signed an official content licensing partnership for TOEFL iBT with ETS, a global education institution, and launched services in South Korea and Japan. It provides a learning environment identical to the real test and offers unlimited feedback based on ETS' official scoring algorithm.
Sokra AI said it plans to strengthen its service competitiveness by advancing its AI technology and accelerate its push into test-prep markets at home and abroad.
Soo-young Park (박수영), Sokra AI's CEO, said, "Santa AI TOEFL is content that can most effectively prepare learners for the revamped TOEFL, and it is receiving a positive response from learners in South Korea and Japan." He added, "Through continuous service improvements, we will establish ourselves as the best TOEFL learning platform."
