The U.S. Supreme Court has invalidated President Donald Trump's tariff policy, freeing Apple from the tariff burden. CNBC reported on Feb. 20 that the ruling will bring major changes for Apple, including lower production costs and its supply chain strategy.

Apple has borne tariff costs of more than $1 billion per quarter on products made overseas, including in China. In response, CEO Tim Cook (팀 쿡) has moved iPhone production for the U.S. market to India, and Mac, AirPods and Apple Watch production to Vietnam, to reduce the tariff burden. But following the Supreme Court ruling, Apple is more likely to expand production in China, CNBC reported.

Apple shares rose 1 percent after the ruling. But it remains unclear whether the tariff burden will be completely resolved after Trump announced he would introduce a new 10 percent global tariff.

Trump has not stated a clear position on whether existing tariffs will be refunded, and the refund issue is likely to lead to prolonged litigation, CNBC reported.
