KT said on March 22 it held the "2026 KT Digital Talent Scholarship Connecting Day" on March 20 at the east wing of its Gwanghwamun building in Seoul's Jongno district.

The KT Digital Talent Scholarship programme is a leading scholarship scheme in the IT and AI fields. Since it began in 1988, it has provided about 18.9 billion won to about 12,000 university students over 38 years. Scholars, including 47 newly selected students, took part in scholarship certificate awards, a team-building programme and networking between cohorts.

KT will expand AI-based projects to solve social problems from this year by linking them with public institutions and local governments. Last year it carried out 10 projects with 7 organisations. It worked with the Jongno-gu Office to develop a chatbot service based on an AlimTalk notification on traffic detour information, and is now preparing commercialisation.

Oh Tae-sung (오태성), head of KT's ESG Management Promotion Office, said, "We will actively support scholars so they can grow into AI talent that creates value for society through experiences connected to real industry."
