Wemade Max said on Thursday it has begun a soft launch for its idle RPG "Windrunner Raising", being developed by its subsidiary Lightcon.
"Windrunner Raising" is a game that reinterprets the "Windrunner" intellectual property, which has recorded a cumulative 60 million downloads, as an idle RPG. Moving away from the original's running-focused play, it features hack-and-slash action content centered on defeating enemies.
The game introduces a combo system in combat. Additional damage applies as combo levels rise, and a fever-only buff activates when a certain level is reached.
Players can access collectable elements such as original characters including "Chloe", summons and mounts. It also provides sub-content including the Pico bonus stage and Summon Land.
Lightcon will conduct the soft launch in the Philippines and Hong Kong. It plans to improve the game's quality by reflecting local user retention and feedback before a formal release this year in global markets, including South Korea.
Lightcon CEO Gil-hyeong Lee (이길형) said, "As a title based on the 'Windrunner' IP, we expect to be able to deliver familiar fun to users at home and abroad." He added, "Through the soft launch, we will closely verify gameplay and service stability and present it as a high-quality work."
