Shinhan Bank's board said on Thursday it recommended 2 new candidates for outside directors, Yoon Joon (윤준) and Chae Eun-mi (채은미), after holding an executive candidate recommendation committee meeting.
The bank described Yoon as a legal expert who served as chief judge of the Seoul High Court. It said he is expected to play a role in internal controls and consumer protection, based on his extensive experience and expertise.
Chae is a PhD in physics and an expert in quantum mechanics. The bank said she was assessed as likely to help strengthen the board's expertise in areas such as digital and ICT strategy and new business analysis, based on her global research experience.
Outside directors Seo Ki-seok (서기석) and Lee In-jae (이인재) are set to step down when their terms end after the annual general meeting.
The board also recommended the reappointment of 3 outside directors whose terms are expiring: Ham Jun-ho (함준호), a professor at Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies; Shinji Yamamoto (야마모토 신지), CEO of Youngshin Trading Co; and Kim Seong-nam (김성남), a management advisory committee member at KPMG Samjong Accounting Corp.
The board said it held the executive candidate recommendation committee a total of 4 times to recommend candidates for outside directors. It said it selected candidates by comprehensively reflecting relevant laws, internal regulations and the results of the 2025 outside director evaluation, among other factors.
