Coupang said on March 20 that Coupang acting chief Harold Rogers completed a dawn delivery experience.

The experience was carried out to fulfil a promise made at a National Assembly hearing last December. It stemmed from a suggestion by Democratic Party lawmaker Yeom Tae-young (염태영) that Rogers try late-night delivery work together.

Coupang said Rogers completed the experience in the Jungwon district area of Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, from 8:30 p.m. on March 19 to 6:30 a.m. on March 20. The programme was designed to let him experience the entire process of a dawn delivery driver’s routine work.

Rogers and Yeom completed safety training and loading work at the Coupang Logistics (CLS) delivery camp in Yatap, Seongnam, on the evening of March 19. They then rode with a directly employed Coupang delivery driver known as a "Coupang Friend" and travelled in separate delivery trucks to make deliveries while covering apartment, villa and single-family home areas in Jungwon, Seongnam.

Coupang said it plans to actively listen to voices from delivery sites and focus on improving working conditions and strengthening health rights for employees.

Rogers said, "I am proud of all workers at Coupang workplaces, including delivery staff." He added, "I will continue to do my best to create safe and advanced working conditions."
