KB Financial Group said on Thursday it will serve as title sponsor of the 2026 KB Financial Korea Swimming Championships, which selects South Korea's national swimming team.
The meet, a national team selection event run with KB Financial as title sponsor for the fifth straight year, will be held for six days from March 23 to 28 at Gimcheon Indoor Swimming Pool in North Gyeongsang province.
The Korea Swimming Federation plans to use the event to select athletes for national team training in 2026 and swimmers who will compete at the 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in 2026.
KB Financial has sponsored the national swimming team and athletes since 2021. The national swimming team won a record 22 medals at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. Swimmer Kim Woo-min (김우민) won bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2025 World Aquatics Championships.
A KB Financial official said, "This event is a stage for competition for the national team and a place to gauge the future of South Korean swimming." The official added, "We will continue to support the development of sports and the training of promising athletes."
Chung Chang-hoon (정창훈), president of the Korea Swimming Federation, said, "With KB Financial's support, we are accelerating the development of swimming." He added, "The athletes will repay it with strong performances."
