South Korea's Broadcast Media Telecom Commission on Wednesday met Del Parks (델 파크스), Sinclair's chief technology officer and executive vice president, to discuss the distribution of Korean content and next-generation broadcasting technologies.
Sinclair is a terrestrial broadcaster that owns more than 185 stations across the United States. At the meeting, Sinclair explained its business structure and direction for Korean content channels, trends in AI-based broadcasting technology and revenue models using next-generation broadcasting technology. It expressed willingness to cooperate with South Korea, including supplying Korean content using U.S. terrestrial broadcast networks and the possibility of expanding new services.
Sinclair also previously agreed in January to work with SBS and others to build a dedicated channel that would supply Korean content on U.S. terrestrial channels.
The commission said it views expanding the foundation for overseas cooperation as important to boosting the global competitiveness of Korean broadcast content. It said it will provide support in various ways to vitalise next-generation broadcast services and content distribution.
