Data governance and security startup Bedrock Labs has secured a strategic investment from Snowflake and will strengthen cooperation between the two companies, SiliconANGLE reported on March 19 local time.
Bedrock Labs will connect its metadata lake platform with Snowflake's data governance solution Horizon. A metadata lake is a graph knowledge base that continuously maps corporate data by sensitivity, lineage, access permissions, access patterns and business context. Customers can automatically detect and classify sensitive information within Snowflake environments. An impact score can be assigned based on sensitivity and used to apply appropriate security controls.
Bedrock Labs will also combine its ArgusAI with Snowflake's AI solution Cortex AI under the partnership. Cortex AI supports the use of AI agents to perform text processing, summarisation and predictive analytics. With the integration, companies can use Cortex AI features while strengthening governance and reducing the risk of data exposure, the company explained.
It added that by listing Cortex AI-based agents, companies will be able to identify data access paths and permissions for those agents.
Bruno Kurtic (브루노 커르틱), Bedrock Labs' co-founder and chief executive, said protecting Snowflake data across traditional analytics workloads and AI applications is a basic requirement in every corporate AI strategy. Data-centric governance is not a nice-to-have but a prerequisite for deploying AI with confidence, he said.
