Solus Advanced Materials said on March 19 it has completed an integrated OLED materials production plant in Hamyeol, Iksan, North Jeolla Province, and has begun full-scale operations. The plant is a new production base built by relocating and expanding its existing Iksan facility, doubling production capacity from before.

The Hamyeol plant is located on a site of about 19,969 square metres inside the Hamyeol Agro-Industrial Complex in Iksan and consists of utility, synthesis, purification and office buildings. Construction was completed last month, and mass production began this month after formal approvals. The company plans to build an integrated system to produce OLED emissive materials (organic materials) and non-emissive materials (polymer materials) at one site, expanding its foothold in the global materials market.

The start-up of the new plant is also expected to accelerate mass production across its product lineup. Production will include products for which it holds intellectual property rights, such as aETL, and new emissive materials for mobile devices, "Blue Prime" and "Red Prime". "Green phosphorescent (Green PH)," a high-margin product, is set to enter full-scale mass production in the second half of this year. In addition, the non-emissive material "thin-film encapsulation (TFE)" is set to be supplied in mass production starting next quarter.

Solus Advanced Materials is also expanding investment in developing new materials beyond OLED. It plans to diversify its growth base by pursuing the development of materials for AI semiconductors and automotive batteries.

Chief Executive Kim Tae-hyung (김태형) said, "The Hamyeol integrated OLED production base is a key production hub that will raise Solus Advanced Materials' competitiveness in the OLED materials business by another level." He added, "We will secure market leadership by expanding R&D and production capabilities for high value-added materials and further strengthen our competitiveness in the global OLED materials market."
