SK Telecom said on March 19 it has started a relay campaign called 'Happy Sharing Blood Donation' with its ICT family companies, with employees taking part to share life through blood donation.

The campaign is a voluntary event involving employees of SKT's ICT family companies, including SKT, SK Square and SK Broadband. It will be held sequentially at about 20 office buildings nationwide throughout the year, starting at SK T-Tower on March 18.

SKT has supported the spread of a blood donation culture for nearly 30 years, starting with group blood donations by employees in 1998. Since 2020, it has continued an annual relay blood donation drive at its office buildings. About 2,000 employees took part in the two years since 2024, drawing a strong response.

SKT has also introduced various services using ICT technology to make it easier to participate in blood donation. In 2007, it launched 'Mobile Blood Donation' for patients needing emergency transfusions, and in 2011 it released 'Smart Blood Donation', an app that allows users to book blood donation appointments.

In 2019, it developed what it called the world's first 'RedConnect' app to support donors' health management and donated it to the Korean Red Cross. Anyone who wants to donate blood can use the RedConnect app to access services including booking donations, checking donation records, tracking and managing blood test results, and checking and issuing blood donation-related certificates.

Eom Jong-hwan (엄종환), head of SKT's ESG Promotion Office, said the campaign is the company's flagship social contribution activity that conveys appreciation to society by bringing together employees' warm intentions. He said SKT will continue to spread the value of sharing life and practise ESG.
