Socar said on March 19 it will formally expand its premium car-sharing service, Black Label. Black Label is a premium car-sharing service for which Socar began a pilot operation in February. It provides vehicles in top condition after a wash and inspection, with at least 80 percent fuel. Amenities such as bottled water, charging cables and hand sanitiser are provided as standard.

Pilot results showed the share of visits to hotels, condos and resorts was 47 percent higher than for general car-sharing. Average rental time was more than double that of general car-sharing. The share of corporate-card payments was nearly three times higher than for general car-sharing, highlighting use for business purposes, the company said.

In this expansion, Socar increased the number of vehicle models from 3 to 8. It added the G80, BMW New X3, The New K8 Hybrid, XC40 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class to the existing The New Carnival, GV70 and GV80. It also expanded the number of vehicles in operation to 100. That is more than triple the previous level.

Ahn Dong-hwa (안동화), head of Socar's car-sharing division, said, "Black Label goes beyond simply providing a good car and is designed so users can enjoy a special experience without inconvenience throughout the entire process of travel." He added, "We hope you experience more comfortable and special travel with Black Label, which Socar has prepared with care, for important moments such as family trips or business meetings."
