Ironmace said on Tuesday it disclosed development of a new project, future key plans and the development status of "Dark and Darker" in its user livestream "Tavern Table" held on March 13.
Ironmace outlined plans to revamp its operating structure. CEO Choi Joo-hyun (최주현), who has served as development director for "Dark and Darker", will move to an executive producer role to set long-term direction and strategy and begin development of a new title. Overall game development and operations for "Dark and Darker" will be led by President Park Seung-ha (박승하) and CTO Paul under a main director and co-director system, respectively.
The new project is a new game based on the "Dark and Darker" intellectual property. The title is in the early stage of development, and details and launch plans will be disclosed later.
The development direction for "Dark and Darker" is shifting from an early, experiment-focused phase to a stabilisation phase for its early-access live service. The company has recently focused its efforts on improving completeness, including server stability, balance adjustments and enhancements to the play experience.
Based on the stabilisation approach, it will pursue system improvements in sequence. A wipe update on a 3-month cycle is planned. Work is under way to improve convenience, including overhauls to the workshop system, the introduction of a party recruitment function and an automatic inventory sorting feature. It also added parrying and new animations to provide a more intuitive combat experience.
It is also reviewing the potential to expand competition-based content, including holding tournaments, as participation in competitive content such as arena mode has been high. On platforms, it is internally discussing expanding "Dark and Darker", currently focused on PC, to console platforms.
Ironmace said, "As improvements to new player onboarding have been confirmed in the metrics, we plan to gradually resume external promotional activities."
