KTcs said on Tuesday it has operated "Digital Learning Centres" for six years, helping solve various everyday problems through AI-based digital education.
The company has operated the centres since 2020 as a participating implementing agency for a digital capacity-building project promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the National Information Society Agency and 16 local governments. The project is characterised by visiting areas where access to digital services is difficult and providing education needed for daily life.
KTcs said it has also run for three years the "Digital Sprouts" project for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as a digital capacity-building project for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities.
At training sites, a range of cases continues, from helping older people book hospital appointments to supporting small merchants entering online live commerce, and assisting people with developmental disabilities in trying to become YouTubers. The company said demand is also steadily rising for learning digital skills needed in daily life, including kiosk ordering, mobile financial services and the use of government services.
KTcs said it is also maximising its ability to deliver digital education by operating, as a partner institution, the "visiting school consulting" project, KT Group's digital capacity-building social contribution activity "IT Supporters" and "Able School", a youth-focused, company practice-oriented AI and DX talent training programme as part of K-Digital Training.
Based on these activities, KTcs instructors received commendations from the science minister and the education minister in January and February, respectively, this year. They also received commendations from eight local governments, including the mayor of Busan and the governor of South Jeolla Province.
KTcs said it is also focusing internally on strengthening AI capabilities. It provides online and offline AI training for all employees and operates programmes including "AI Earlybird" and "AI Correspondent".
KTcs CEO Jeong Yong-yong (지정용) said, "As AI and digital transformation progress rapidly, the role of education is becoming even more important." He added, "We will continue to work to create an environment where anyone can use technology through digital education."
