Figma has teamed up with Anthropic to introduce a “Code to Canvas” feature that converts AI-generated code into designs, CNBC reported on Feb. 17.
The Code to Canvas feature imports code generated by AI coding tools such as Claude Code into Figma’s canvas, allowing designers to edit it directly.
Despite concerns that AI-based coding tools will replace design, Figma stresses that collaborating with AI can instead raise the value of design. Using Code to Canvas allows teams to modify and compare AI-created interfaces directly in Figma, enabling members to decide on the best design quickly, the company said.
As expectations spread that AI will threaten the positions of existing software companies, software stocks have plunged. A new term, “SaaSpocalypse,” has also emerged. Software ETFs have entered a bear market, and major companies such as Salesforce, ServiceNow and Intuit posted double-digit declines. Figma has also seen its stock slide sharply since its listing last year. Figma shares are down about 85 percent from $142.92 in August last year.
