[DigitalToday reporter Choo Hyun-woo (추현우)] Nearly 5 years after Windows 11 was released, many users regretted the removal of Windows 10's taskbar move feature. Microsoft (MS) is finally set to accept users' requests and add the feature to Windows 11.
PhoneArena, an IT-focused media outlet, reported on Feb. 14 (local time) that Windows 11 will be updated to allow users to move the taskbar, which is fixed at the bottom of the screen, to a preferred location. It is one of the most requested features on Microsoft's Feedback Hub, and many users on online communities such as Reddit have sought unofficial workarounds.
MS had excluded the feature after judging demand to be low, but many users actually wanted it. MS also plans to add an option to adjust the taskbar's size. Once applied, users will be able to set the taskbar as they want without third-party apps.
Microsoft's decision is expected to act as a positive signal for users who had hesitated to upgrade to Windows 11. With the update applied this summer, Windows 11 is expected to establish itself as a finished operating system rather than a replacement for Windows 10.
