The Game Rating and Administration Committee, or GRAC, said on Sunday it held the first 2026 review of reports on illegal games on March 12 at its headquarters’ rating classification meeting room. It said the step aims to prevent user harm from illegal games and boost the effectiveness of crackdowns on distribution and illegal currency exchange.
In line with operating guidelines for the illegal game report reward scheme, GRAC formed the 2026 Illegal Game Report Reward Review Committee with the National Police Agency and experts from related institutions. It said it has added and appointed 1 more external member since last year to improve the expertise and fairness of reviews, maintaining a more objective and detailed assessment system.
The appointed members this year include Soon-gi Park (박순기), head of the morals enforcement unit at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; Bang-hyun Yoon (윤방현), head of Gambling Crime Investigation Team 1 at the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency; Kyung-min Lee (이경민), head of the cybercrime investigation unit at the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency; Sang-hoon Lee (이상훈), head of the crime prevention and public order unit at the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency; and Soo-hyun Cho (조수현), secretary general of the Game Culture Foundation.
Reportable acts include providing illegal games, currency exchange, brokering currency exchange, advertising or promotion that encourages gambling, and posting or distributing promotional materials.
Those who want to file a report can submit an application and supporting evidence through the “Illegal Game Report Reward” section of GRAC’s website. If the act is confirmed as a legal violation, the review committee’s deliberation will determine whether a reward is paid and the amount.
Rewards are paid at up to 500,000 won per case, depending on the completeness of the report and the degree of illegality. The cap is up to 600,000 won per person per month and up to 3,000,000 won per year.
GRAC Chairman Tae-geon Seo (서태건) said public expectations are very high for fair and transparent operation of the scheme amid a rapidly changing game industry environment. He urged members to pool their wisdom so the report reward programme can be run effectively based on their professional insight.
