China's Baidu has integrated the AI agent OpenClo into its search app and will provide it directly to 700 million users, CNBC reported on Feb. 13.

Baidu search app users who choose to use OpenClo can automate a range of tasks, including schedule management, file organisation and code writing. OpenClo is an open-source AI agent developed in Austria. It was previously available only on messaging services such as WhatsApp and Telegram.

Access has expanded as Chinese companies such as Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu integrate OpenClo into their cloud systems. Baidu plans to apply OpenClo functions beyond its search app to e-commerce and other services.

Concerns about OpenClo security are also growing. Cybersecurity firms including CrowdStrike are warning that security risks could arise if OpenClo has unlimited access to corporate systems.
