Korea Post, an agency under the Ministry of Science and ICT, said on Sunday it launched the "Post Office Goryeong Love Gift Certificate Card" that allows users to spend Goryeong County local gift certificates in North Gyeongsang Province with a post office debit card.

Local gift certificates can be topped up through post office counters in the area, the post office savings website, the Post Office Smart Banking app and the "chak" app, an integrated platform for local gift certificates. The topped-up certificates can be used like cash at affiliated merchants in the area. The Goryeong Love Gift Certificate Card also allows debit card payments within the account balance even if the topped-up amount is insufficient. It also offers various cashback and discount benefits.

With the launch of the Goryeong Love Gift Certificate Card, the post office debit card local gift certificate service has expanded to a total of 40 local governments. Korea Post plans to use its nationwide post office financial infrastructure to support the recovery of local economies and contribute to promoting local consumption.

Park In-hwan (박인환), head of Korea Post, said, "The post office debit card local gift certificate is a representative financial service that supports the recovery of local commercial districts based on the nationwide post office network and public trust." He added, "With this launch in Goryeong County, we hope for interest and participation from more local governments."
