KakaoBank said on Thursday its conversational AI service has exceeded 3 million cumulative users eight months after launch. It said more than 10,000 people on average newly use the service each day, raising its usage across financial life overall.

The company cited the popularity of the service to its continued expansion of the lineup and stronger customer accessibility. KakaoBank sequentially introduced various conversational AI services starting with AI Search in May last year, followed by an AI financial calculator, AI transfer and an AI group-account manager. It also said it secured differentiated competitiveness by directly applying AI technology to key financial services, including transfers and group accounts, for the first time in the domestic financial sector.

AI Search is a service in which AI provides guidance from KakaoBank product information to basic financial knowledge. The AI financial calculator supports everyday financial calculations such as interest and exchange rates. AI transfer recognises customers' everyday language requests and processes transfers, while the AI group-account manager automatically organises membership-fee deposits and spending within group accounts.

Usage by age group was 26.4 percent for those in their 20s or younger, 24.8 percent for those in their 30s, 23.7 percent for those in their 40s and 25.1 percent for those aged 50 or older, showing an even distribution across all age groups.

The service with the largest number of users was AI Search, with cumulative users reaching 2.65 million. It accounts for about 88 percent of the 3 million total users of conversational AI services. Key use cases include questions seeking practical financial information such as where to use Sangsaeng Payback, 2026 economic policies and the differences between deposits and savings.

KakaoBank plans to expand the application of AI technology from employee work to overall customer services, positioning itself as an AI Native Bank. It plans to newly introduce an AI invitation service in the first quarter of this year to strengthen support functions for group activities.
