Hana Financial Group said on Feb. 13 it delivered 70 million won in donations on Feb. 12 to support child care in the Incheon area, in an effort to promote coexistence with local communities and address blind spots in child care.
The donations were raised through the KLPGA regular tour's Hana Financial Group Championship held in September last year. Players participating in the tournament donated 1 percent of the total prize money, and Hana Financial Group added the same amount through a matching grant to raise 30 million won. Additional donations from various events held during the tournament brought the total to 70 million won.
The funds will be delivered to the Incheon branch of the Community Chest of Korea and are set to be used for places in the community that need practical support, including after-school child care institutions and child protection agencies.
Jeon Byeong-kwon (전병권), regional head of Hana Bank's Gyeongin business division, said it was meaningful to support child care in Incheon with donations raised by players and Hana Financial Group through the Hana Financial Group Championship. He said he hopes the donation will serve as a starting point to improve the quality of child care and child protection and support stable growth for future generations.
Ha Byeong-pil (하병필), administrative vice mayor of Incheon, said it is meaningful that Hana Financial Group has continued sharing for several years for socially vulnerable people in the region through the golf tournament it holds in Incheon. He said he expects the donation to bring real change to children who need care.
