KT said on Thursday it will hold the "KT Square Everyone's Canvas" contest, open to any member of the public.
KT planned the contest to allow anyone, regardless of age or gender, to express creativity without being limited by size, using KT Square as a canvas for all. The entry period runs for three weeks through March 8, with submissions accepted via the contest page on KT.com.
Participants should submit a diary-style text capturing social and everyday changes 20 years from now under the theme, "My story in 2046", along with one freely formatted image. The image can take any form, including a hand-drawn picture or an AI-generated work.
Science communicator and YouTuber Orbit (궤도) and Cheon Seon-ran (천선란), author of the SF novel "A Thousand Blues", will take part as professional judges. The two judges will make a comprehensive assessment of creativity, imagination of the future and message delivery. KT’s college student marketing supporters, "Y Futurist", will also evaluate entries, reviewing empathy and freshness from the perspective of the younger generation.
The grand prize and top excellence prize winners will receive 4 million won and 2 million won, respectively. Selected works will be produced as media art content and aired at KT Square in April. KT will also additionally select a total of 200 works and provide each with a Naver Pay gift certificate worth about 10,000 won.
KT plans to run a follow-up contest in the second half of this year and to continue expanding its citizen-participation campaigns.
Yoon Tae-sik (윤태식), head of KT’s Brand Strategy Office and an executive director, said, "We will continue to discover and present new and diverse customer experiences, including Everyone's Canvas, a contest where the future I imagined is realized as super-large media art content."
