Shinhan Financial Group said on Feb. 12 it conducted volunteer work on Feb. 11 at the child care facility Seoul City Dream Tree Village in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. It said the activity was the sixth project in the group employee social contribution campaign, the Solseonsubeom Relay, to support youth preparing for independence ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Solseonsubeom Relay is the group's flagship social contribution project in which Shinhan Financial executives and employees participate from proposing ideas to fundraising and volunteer work.
About 30 Shinhan Financial Group executives and employees, including Chairman Jin Ok-dong (진옥동), joined children at the facility for activities such as playing yutnori and jegichagi and making Lunar New Year food. They also prepared about 140 customised Lunar New Year gifts requested by the children, packaged them and delivered them in person.
Table tennis national team player Shin Yu-bin (신유빈), who is sponsored by Shinhan Financial Group, also joined the volunteer activity.
Shinhan Financial executives and employees plan to continue providing various support for the stable independence of youth preparing for independence using total funds of 100 million won, combining about 80 million won raised voluntarily for the project and group donations.
Jin said, "It was a very meaningful time because we were able to share warm affection and emotional connection with children at a child care facility ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday." He added, "Shinhan Financial Group will continue to provide sincere support so that youth preparing for independence can quickly adapt to society, with careful interest in those around us."
