KT said on Wednesday it has expanded functions in its family benefits service app, KT FamilyBox, so family members can use benefits more conveniently.
KT FamilyBox is a family benefits platform used by 2,140,000 subscribers and the only one of its kind among South Korea's three telecom carriers. It offers functions designed for family use, such as sharing data among family members, managing schedules and providing partner benefits.
KT said the update allows users to check family members' membership tiers and the status of key benefit usage in the "family status" menu. VIP customers can also see whether they have used that month's VVIP and VIP Choice benefits. Benefit sharing applies only with consent, and users can also set it to private. The app also offers family data sharing and a family calendar schedule management function.
KT is also running partner discounts and events for the Lunar New Year holiday. Pulmuone's online mall offers discounts of up to 10,000 won depending on purchase amount, while Ottogi and Daypack offer 30 percent discounts capped at up to 20,000 won and 30,000 won, respectively. It has also prepared a Heodak discount and a Cleaning Lab coupon pack.
The company is also holding a prize event for customers who use partner coupons. Customers who use 1 coupon will receive a Mega Coffee voucher, and those who use 2 or more coupons will receive a 5,000 won Olive Young voucher. Customers who use 2 or more coupons will also be given a chance to win a Samsung AI air purifier. During the Lunar New Year period, a quiz event will award CU gift certificates to winners selected by drawing among those with correct answers.
KT also runs "Pabaek Day" on the third Friday of every month. In February, it will draw 3,000 winners to receive banana milk vouchers, and it will also award 1 family, selected by drawing, a Sofitel hotel staycation voucher for a family of 4.
Hee-geun Kwon (권희근), head of KT's Marketing Innovation Division and an executive director, said, "We will continue to discover and provide benefits that fit families, and we will keep upgrading the service so they can use useful benefits without missing out."
