Uber Eats is introducing an AI-based shopping cart feature for its grocery delivery service, CNBC reported on Tuesday.

Customers can upload text or images, such as handwritten lists, to automatically create a shopping cart. Uber Eats plans to provide the AI shopping cart in cooperation with Safeway, Albertsons and Kroger, among others.

Uber said, "The AI shopping cart is a practical solution that reflects customers' real needs," and added, "It will provide a more intuitive shopping experience by taking product preferences and store inventory into account." Customers can also edit the AI-recommended list or switch to products they want.

Uber Eats and DoorDash have recently continued aggressive expansion in the grocery delivery market. Uber Eats launched grocery delivery during the pandemic in 2020 and has recently expanded partnerships with Aldi and FreshDirect, among others.
