Israeli endpoint security startup Bold has emerged from stealth and raised $40 million, Business Insider reported on March 12 local time.

Bold develops software that uses AI to protect devices such as corporate laptops.

The funding round was led by Red Dot Capital Partners, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners and Picture Capital. Bold plans to use the funds to expand in the U.S. market and grow its global business.

Bold's core product is an AI agent installed directly on corporate devices. In cybersecurity, endpoint devices such as laptops are most often exploited as routes for hackers to break in. After installation, the company's AI agent monitors in real time how users handle apps and data. When it detects abnormal behavior, it does not stop at asking whether to block it, but explains the risk to the user and suggests alternatives.

The AI runs directly on the device without an internet connection and does not exchange data with the cloud. That makes responses faster and reduces the risk of personal information leaks. Bold uses a small AI model so it can be used without high-performance AI chips.

Many Fortune 500 companies, including U.S. firms Shutterfly and Tekion, use Bold's products, Business Insider said.
