Battery materials maker L&F said on Tuesday its Guji Plant 1 in Daegu was selected as a "2025 outstanding workplace for health promotion activities" overseen by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. The selection means the plant will keep the outstanding workplace status for the next 3 years.

Outstanding workplaces for employee health promotion activities are chosen under a Ministry of Employment and Labor notice through a comprehensive evaluation of companies that pursue such activities, including system-building, programme operation and environmental management. Guji Plant 1 passed assessments in 7 areas: system-building, awareness level, organisational culture, health promotion activities, environmental management, programme operation and subcontractor management. It received high marks for improving health promotion activities and programme operations.

Guji Plant 1 operated a segmented management system based on individual job characteristics and health conditions. It classified and managed those subject to oversight through a musculoskeletal hazard factor survey, and said the number of workplace accident victims from musculoskeletal disorders fell 60 percent compared with the previous survey.

It also established a joint labour-management promotion system, including regular discussions through the industrial safety and health committee, placement of a dedicated organisation, and a plan-execute-evaluate-feedback framework. It supported workers at partner companies so they could also take part in health promotion programmes.

Lee Byung-hee (이병희), L&F's chief operating officer, said: "This is the result of labour and management cooperating while viewing employee health as the foundation of corporate competitiveness." He added: "L&F will continue management and support to promote employee health, and we plan to keep working steadily to create a safe and healthy workplace."
