[DigitalToday AI Reporter] Palantir CEO Alex Karp (알렉스 카프) stressed that artificial intelligence technology is securing a decisive advantage for the West in the Middle East war.
CNBC reported on March 12 that Karp said at "Palantir AIPCon 9" in Maryland that AI is strengthening the warfighting capabilities of the United States and its allies. He argued, "The special reason the United States is special is its lethal warfighting capability and the fact that the AI revolution is being led by the United States."
Palantir is providing technology that integrates combat data so the United States and Middle East allies can respond to Iranian air strikes. Karp stressed that "to coordinate these operations, a specific secure platform is needed, and Palantir makes that possible."
Palantir's Project Maven is a real-time AI surveillance system that analyses the battlefield using satellite imagery. The platform was also used in an operation to arrest Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, and it is known to have been used, in cooperation with Israel, in an operation to remove Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Karp said AI is opening a new phase of war, citing a recent incident in which Iran attacked an Amazon data centre in the Middle East. He explained, "Data centres are national security assets, and adversaries know that well. The fact that Iran's target is not simply a military company shows that."
Palantir is known as a defence industry company, but it is also growing quickly in its commercial segment. Fourth-quarter U.S. commercial revenue rose 137 percent to $507 million, and Palantir shares rose 12 percent, contrasting with a 1.6 percent fall in the Nasdaq index over the same period.
