Bumble has introduced an AI-based dating assistant called Bee, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday.
Bee learns users’ values, relationship goals and communication styles and recommends matches. It is currently in a pilot stage, and a beta test will begin soon. Bumble plans to use it to collect user information more precisely and provide an experience that differs from rival apps such as Tinder.
Bee operates as a conversational AI based on text and voice, and Bumble plans to add date recommendations and feedback features later.
Bumble is experimenting with new matching methods using AI technology, beyond its existing swipe-focused system. Its strategy is to strengthen connections based on user stories, moving away from the swipe-based binary approach.
