President Lee Jae-myung (이재명) will chair a meeting on March 18 with the financial industry and individual investors to discuss measures to improve the structure of capital markets.

Kang Yu-jung (강유정), spokesperson for Cheong Wa Dae, said in a written briefing on March 12 that a meeting titled "Meeting for capital market stability and normalization" will be held under Lee's chairmanship. The meeting is being held under the theme "a capital market strong in crisis and trusted by the public" to discuss fundamental structural improvements to capital markets and reform tasks to achieve them.

The meeting will be attended broadly by the heads of the government and financial authorities and by market participants. Participants include Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eok-won (이억원), Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin (이찬진), officials from KOSDAQ and KONEX-listed companies, institutional investors and individual investors including young people.

Lee plans to review measures to respond to financial market volatility stemming from the recent Middle East situation with those attending.

He also plans to directly gather investors' views on capital market normalization policies and to push ahead with reform tasks at speed by turning a crisis into an opportunity.

Earlier, Lee continued speaking at a meeting of senior secretaries and aides held at Cheong Wa Dae on March 12, showing his determination on market stability.
