Parking enforcement alert app Whistle said on Feb. 11 it will strengthen support for its parking enforcement alert service in major areas nationwide during the Lunar New Year holiday. It plans to ease drivers’ parking burden by reflecting the holiday’s concentration of homecoming, return trips and travel demand.
Data from the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Citizen Audit Ombudsman Commission showed 1.61 million cases, or 73.1 percent, of all on-site complaints in Seoul in 2025 were in the traffic sector. Inconvenience in daily life was concentrated on traffic and parking issues.
Holiday travel volumes in particular are rising each year. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said expressway traffic on the day of the last Chuseok holiday hit a record high of 6.67 million vehicles. As traffic surges, complaints linked to parking enforcement are also increasing around traditional markets, terminals and areas near stations.
Whistle logged 7,608,576 parking enforcement alerts it provided in 2025, up 26.6 percent from 6,008,427 in 2024. The company explained that real-time enforcement alerts are being used in an environment where travel to unfamiliar areas is becoming more frequent.
Whistle said it immediately guides drivers to move their vehicles via app push notifications or alert messages when a vehicle is parked in an area where parking enforcement is expected. It provides integrated parking enforcement alerts from partnered local governments nationwide with a single sign-up. Users can use the same service without separate settings even in unfamiliar areas such as on the way home or at travel destinations.
Whistle has 6.44 million cumulative members and 5.92 million registered vehicles. It is currently expanding into vehicle management services, including vehicle inspection reservations, hand car wash reservations and its car-selling service Pickdeal.
A Whistle official said, "Starting with parking enforcement alerts, we aim to broaden services across overall vehicle management and establish ourselves as the platform drivers look for first." The official added, "We hope users will spend a comfortable time with their families during this Lunar New Year holiday without parking stress and worries about fines."
