Kiwoom Securities said on March 12 it will hold the barrier-free short-course marathon "2026 Kiwoom Run" on April 18, Disability Day, at the Culture Square area of Yeouido Park in Seoul.
The event will bring people together to run regardless of whether they have a disability. Individual entry fees and event-related costs will be used for activities such as improving disability accessibility.
The courses will be 5 km and 10 km. Runners will start at Yeouido Park and pass through Hangang Park and Seogang Bridge, among other locations, and finishers will receive commemorative medals.
The venue will include support spaces and programs designed for wheelchair users, participants with strollers and visually impaired people. It will also run a wheelchair inspection and repair booth, a pain management booth, a mind and body relaxation room, and a massage experience booth for visually impaired people.
It will also operate the "Together Runner" scheme to spread barrier-free running culture. Kiwoom Securities explained it is a role in which participants voluntarily help runners who need assistance during the run.
VMK, a running crew for visually impaired people, will also take part with guide runners. The event will also support real-time captions and sign-language interpretation on stage, and an application page designed with web accessibility in mind.
Kiwoom Securities CEO Ju-sung Um (엄주성) said, "From the first event last year, we created a significant social ripple effect through moving scenes of people with and without disabilities running together." He said, "We will not spare our support so that Kiwoom Run can become a representative venue for integration that breaks down the wall of disability."
