The Broadcast Media Communications Review Committee has completed its nine-member lineup.
On March 11, the committee said it appointed Kim Woo-seok (김우석), a former member of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, as a member of the committee's first board on the recommendation of the National Assembly speaker.
Under the law on the establishment and operation of the Broadcast Media Communications Committee, the president appoints the members: 3 designated by the president, 3 recommended by the National Assembly speaker after consulting floor leaders of negotiating parties, and 3 recommended by a relevant parliamentary standing committee.
The first board consists of Ko Kwang-heon, Kim Jun-hyeon and Cho Seung-ho, designated by the president; Kim Min-jung, Kim Woo-seok and Choi Sun-young, recommended by the National Assembly speaker; and Koo Jong-sang, Kim Il-gon and Hong Mi-ae, recommended by the National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee. Their three-year term runs from March 11, 2026 to March 10, 2029.
Kim previously served as a member of the Korea Communications Standards Commission, an adjunct professor at Kookmin University's Graduate School of Public Administration, and an advisory member of the Presidential Committee for National Integration.
The committee plans to hold its first plenary meeting at 3 p.m. on March 12 and elect its chair, vice chair and 3 standing members by mutual vote.
