SK Shields said its physical security brand ADT Caps urged the need for basic safety management ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, based on analysis results of store operation data.
ADT Caps conducted a comprehensive analysis of 2025 Lunar New Year holiday dispatch data, along with compensation claim cases over the past two years among customers using its services.
The analysis showed that the average daily number of dispatches to small business stores during the last Lunar New Year holiday period rose about 42 percent from normal levels. A clear shift was also seen in the time of day for dispatches. While dispatches usually account for a relatively high share in late-night hours, during the Lunar New Year holiday they tended to concentrate in daytime hours between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Differences were also found in incident types by industry. In manufacturing, fires accounted for the largest share at 82.6 percent of all reported incident types. Restaurants tended to see a range of incident types alongside fires, including wind and flood damage, water supply and drainage leaks, broken glass and theft.
ADT Caps explained that because stores are often left unattended for long periods during the Lunar New Year holiday, even simple checks can greatly reduce the likelihood of incidents. It added that it is important to check basic items in advance, including whether power to electric heating devices and kitchen equipment is turned off, gas valves, water supply and drainage pipes and external facilities, and whether doors and windows are locked.
An ADT Caps official said, "During the Lunar New Year holiday, security and safety conditions may differ from usual, so special caution is needed." The official added, "We will support small business owners so they can manage their stores with peace of mind during the holiday by combining basic pre-holiday checks with an around-the-clock monitoring and dispatch system."
