Skylabs said on Monday it has launched CART ON, a ward-specific solution that uses a ring-type blood pressure monitor to automatically measure and manage blood pressure data for hospitalised patients.

With the CART ON launch, Skylabs has expanded its business beyond outpatient and consumer markets into ward patient monitoring. The company stressed that adding the ward-specific solution to its medical device-approved outpatient product CART BP pro and consumer product CART BP completes a lineup covering all stages requiring blood pressure measurement, from daily life to ward care.

The company said CART ON focuses on improving convenience in medical settings by simplifying cumbersome measurement procedures. If medical staff prescribe a ring-type blood pressure monitor instead of a conventional cuff-type monitor to a patient they judge needs 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, the device automatically measures blood pressure and collects related data through its built-in photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor.

The collected data is linked to Seers Technology’s inpatient monitoring platform thynC and is automatically transmitted and recorded on nurse-station dashboards and in hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Daewoong Pharmaceutical will handle domestic sales of the CART ON solution and supply it through nationwide hospital distribution networks.

Skylabs CEO Byung-hwan Lee (이병환) said, "CART ON is a solution that improves the efficiency of managing hypertension patients in wards through clinically validated technology." He added, "We will continue to advance monitoring technologies for vital signs such as blood pressure to contribute to building a smart ward environment that simultaneously improves workflow efficiency in medical settings and patient convenience."
