Woori Finance Future Foundation, an affiliate of Woori Financial Group, said on Monday it will expand its senior digital finance education programme, "WOORI Senior IT Happiness Learning Class," from March.
WOORI Senior IT Happiness Learning Class is a tailored digital finance education programme for seniors that the foundation has run since 2024. This year it plans to expand the programme with a total of 456 sessions at 16 learning sites and provide education opportunities to about 3,080 seniors.
Training will be held from March through December for about 10 months at "WOORI Senior IT Happiness Learning Centers" set up by Woori Bank at major welfare centres in Seoul and the capital area.
The curriculum covers practical topics that can be used immediately in daily life, including basic smartphone use, mobile banking, kiosk ordering, taxi-hailing, how to use AI and ways to prevent financial fraud. Participants will receive customised instruction through beginner and advanced classes based on their level. The programme is designed to combine theory and hands-on practice using a range of IT devices available at the learning centres.
After the training, the foundation will hold a "Challenge! Senior Finance Golden Bell" event and pay prize money to participants who achieve strong results. Top participants will also be offered the chance to take part as assistant instructors in the next training course.
A foundation official said practical training has been added this year in which participants place orders themselves using kiosks at food and beverage shops near the learning centres immediately after classes. The official added the foundation will work to expand inclusive finance, including by broadening education opportunities so more seniors can use digital finance without difficulty.
