NH NongHyup Financial Group said on March 10 that it designated March 9 as “NongHyup Financial Financial Consumer Protection Day,” the first such designation by a financial holding company, and held a commemorative event.

NongHyup Financial plans to designate the first business day of the week that includes March 15, World Consumer Rights Day, as Financial Consumer Protection Day each year and operate that week as Financial Consumer Protection Week.

The event was run as an action-focused program combining education, inspections and communication. It shared a CEO message and provided online training for all employees to align on directions for putting financial consumer protection into practice.

It also selected and awarded the best and outstanding subsidiaries for financial consumer protection based on a comprehensive assessment of consumer protection index results, cases of system improvements and external publicity performance.

NH NongHyup Bank has held an annual Financial Consumer Protection Grand Prize since 2023 to build an organisation-wide environment for advancing consumer protection. In 2025, it was named the best subsidiary for financial consumer protection after being recognised for operating a 24-hour “Suspicious Account Monitoring Center,” the first in the financial sector, to protect customer assets and prevent in advance financial fraud losses of about 100 billion won a year.

NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance was selected for a second straight year as a “KCPI Korea Excellent Financial Consumer Protection Company.” It won an excellence award for financial consumer protection after being recognised for being the first in the non-life insurance industry to build an FDS system and expanding services for financially vulnerable groups such as foreigners and people with disabilities.

NH NongHyup Financial Group Chairman Chan-woo Lee (이찬우) said financial consumer protection is a core value that determines trust in financial companies beyond regulatory compliance. He said he hopes this Financial Consumer Protection Day will serve as an opportunity to review achievements so far and reflect on itself.
